SOMETHING FROM THE WEEKEND: DR NOKI

This weekend we got to hang out with Dr Noki and ask a few questions about the fierce and fabulous fashion angle he’ll be bring to Lovebox on Sunday 18th July…
Tell us a bit more about the brand that is Dr Noki….
Dr Noki’s NHS -stands for NOKI HOUSE of SUSTAINABILITY – traditionally a house in the fashion industry is an umbrella that harnesses talent and presents it as a creative thought process. That thought process and direction is Sustainability the NHS strives to create a new brand that only creates the ‘one-off’ otherwise known as Couture.
What can we expect from the Dr Noki fashion show at Lovebox
On the catwalk expect to see Mickey Mouse on Meow Meow! Masks, cartoon couture, grunge chic meet ball gown breakdown meets anarchy realigned. Hyper colour and flannel check under pop prints, which, on closer inspection, is for 18 year olds and over. Fringing, appliqué and DNA yarns are drafted into sex knits; a galvanisation of the fashion catwalk experience encompassing 13 years of culture jamming extravaganza that has been the NOKI world. The fabulous Kim Howells is styling the show and behind the scenes will be casting models, sorting hair and makeup teams, choosing the clothes, sending the new breed of supermodels out on the catwalk; altogether helping to create the NHS story come to life on the main stage runway.
What are they key aspects that make for a great fashion show?
A futuristic sex silhouette that stomps to a generator generation
What is the concept behind 123?
123 is a store (located 123 Bethnal Green Road, in the East end of the world) but more importantly 123 is a leap of faith between industry and design. Customisation is not just a trend anymore but is a leading fashion thought process. LMB the industry that owns 123 are a textile recycling plant in WEST HAM where DR NOKI gets his sustainable canvases to create what you will see on the catwalk on the LOVEBOX main stage.
What is so unique about East London fashion/ style?
It means everything to me - I moved to Old Street in 1995 when it was an apocalyptic wasteland and seen it transform around me into the creative kaleidoscopic landscape it is now!
