Not content with dominating the world of Drum and Bass, in 2007, Zinc decided that house music would be next in line to receive the benefits of his golden touch.
And so in 2008 his brand of “Crackhouse” was born, bringing some youthful ideas to the masses on dance floors the world over.
And if that wasn’t enough, Zinc regularly backs up his style with his monthly ‘Crackhouse Mixes’. The latest of these, delivered fresh for April, can be found by clicking here. You can check Zinc in the flesh on the full-on Friday Lovebox: July 16th

Peter O’Grady, better known as Joy Orbison, credits possibly the coolest uncle ever with introducing him to the joys of jungle and UK garage at a young age…
And whilst Lovebox is in no position to question family responsibilities, we have no issue with reaping the benefits of Joy Orbison’s rapid rise to the big time with his eclectic blend of dubstep, uk garage, house and jungle.
Indeed, the 22-year old burst on to the scene last year with ‘Hyph Mngo’, arguably the ‘forward-thinking dubstep’ tune of 2009. This was followed up with the equally impressive ‘BRKLN CLLN’ on his own Doldrums label and ‘The Shrew Would Have Cushioned The Blow’ coming soon after.
Having crammed 2010 with a spate of live performances to showcase his talents as a DJ, great things beckon for Joy Orbison this year. The highlight of these being, of course, his appearance on Friday’s NYC Downlow Stage.

As if winning a BRIT award wasn’t enough, Friday night headliner Dizzee Rascal is now leading the nominations for this years Ivor Novello awards with two nods, along with fellow Londoner Lily Allen.
Dizzee has picked up nominations for best contemporary song with Bonkers and best album with 2009’s ‘Tongue N Cheek’. A win would cap off an incredible 12-months for the rapper, who would probably need to invest the prize-money in a larger trophy cabinet.

For those of you stuck in the UK at the moment, this should cheer you up and for everyone marooned on foreign shores…this will give you a reason to get back to Blighty before the summer begins.

Silver columns took time out this weekend to have a chat to Lovebox about life and art in general. They were pretty cool cats which makes us even more pleased to welcome them to The Gaymers Stage at Lovebox on Sunday 18th July…
How will you be filling your time in between now and taking to the stage at Lovebox?
We’ve just started performing live, so we’re gonna be spending the next few months honing the live sound for sprawling festival stages and densely packed clubs - getting it as loud, as hard and as sweaty as possible.
Best Onstage moment?
Watching my friends dance. Hilarious. Don’t get me wrong - i’m no Beyoncé … but looking out in to the crowd the other night, and seeing some of my best friends try to dance was heartwarming and amusing in equal measures. My pal Keith actually had his hands in the air at one point.
Worst Onstage moment?
One of our synths slid off its stand whilst Adem was playing a particularly raunchy bass-line. I told you it got sweaty. Even the keyboards are sweating.
Twitter or Facebook and why?
We’ve got both, but have got a team of underpaid, and underfed children updating them. It’s handy, actually - cos I’m always forgetting when we’re doing gigs, so it’s almost like our own news-feed.

Grace Jones returned to London last night to deliver an epic performance at the Royal Albert Hall, giving revellers a tantalising taste of what is to come this summer at Lovebox.
In a show high on spectacle and bristling with energy, the Lovebox headliner delivered a show defying her 61 years, leading Spinner UK to proclaim that “centre stage, more than any other performer, is where Jones is meant to be”.
The imperious singer treated fans to a mix of new material and time-honoured hits such as ‘Nightclubbing’, ‘My Jamaican Guy’ and ‘Pull Up To The Bumper’ in a set spanning 16 songs.
And such was Jones’ dominance over the stage last night, when a brief projector malfunction drew her to predict that “heads will roll” after the show, we were left in no doubt that she meant it.
Roll on summer, so to speak.
